Saint Leo University sets two free November events for veterans and military families
Saint Leo University will host two free public events in St. Leo next month: a Nov. 5 opening ceremony and a Nov. 18 chili cook-off. Anyone who wants to enter the cook-off should email the university by Nov. 6.

Two free events in November
Saint Leo University says it will host November events honoring veterans, military personnel and their families during National Veterans and Military Families Month. Two of the planned events are free and open to the public, and the university says no advance registration is required.
The first event is the Veterans Appreciation Month Opening Ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. to noon in the Glen E. Greenfelder and Janet L. Denlinger Boardrooms in the Student Community Center. Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Frank Hernandez will give the keynote address, and the program will include gratitude notes from students plus hors d’oeuvres and desserts.
How to take part
The second event is the Fifth Annual Chili Cook-Off on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Student Activities Building Loggia. Guests can sample a variety of chili recipes and vote for their favorites.
Anyone who wants to enter the cook-off should email student.affairs@saintleo.edu by Nov. 6. The university’s main campus address is 33701 County Road 52 in St. Leo.
